The carbon circular economy
Every step of effectively creating a carbon circular economy is predicated upon a market-driven value proposition using elemental carbon as a primary or secondary product.
The first two steps in the carbon circular economy are to
(1) acquire wood waste, and
(2) make activated carbon
These initial steps lay the foundation for BXD Cascade, it’s subsidiaries and other like-minded
companies to build-out a resilient, robust and sustainable circular economy to profitably benefit the human condition.

Up-valuing carbon waste products to impact food security and health security
1.
Acquire wood waste
Wood waste is readily available as a waste product from almost all forestry-related activities and business, whether resulting from day-to-day forestry management or commercial exploitation, such as wooden furniture manufacture.
Waste wood and forestry biomass is plentiful, inexpensive, and readily available throughout Europe.
2.
Make activated carbon
Activated carbon is made from carbon-rich inputs typically using pyrolysis in a two-step process – carbonisation and activation using high temperatures that generate unwanted emissions.
Cascade Carbon Solutions has already demonstrated a novel method to manufacture activated carbon in a one step, continuous process at temperatures below combustion and far less expensive than all competing methods.
Production equipment can be obtained by the acquisition and repurpose of existing off-the-shelf equipment with added automation and integration. The entire process from start to production will typically take around six months.
3.
Farm soil remediation
Cascade Carbon Solutions has already demonstrated the further use of activated carbon as a time-release dosometer to
- deliver a proprietary blend of restorative beneficial inputs to farm soil
- induce adaptive benefits in plants
- develop a non-toxic catalytic surface modification specifically designed to cleave pesticide/herbicide residue that might otherwise linger in farm soil for more than 20 years

5.
Critical mineral recover/replace
Coal and coal mining waste streams contain a number of critical and high-value minerals in addition to carbon. By efficiently making activated carbon the first value proposition, the economics for the recovery of co-located critical minerals becomes viable.
Critical mineral replacement refers to BXD Cascade’s demonstrated ability to replace certain rare earth mineral and exotic element applications with quantum effect catalysts and catalyst processes. This includes obviating the use of cerium, lanthanum, platinum group metals and others.
